I have been buying bulk (taped up, no spindle) 4x Taiyo Yuden disk from

http://www.supermediastore.com/media1.html
(out of stock right now)
Tend to ship fairly quickly.

For about $33 + s/h. I have gotten them for as low as $25 per hundred with
price breaks and coupons and free shipping.

And

http://www.shop4tech.com/z/DVD_R_4X_4.7GB/1_88_248/
($31 with free shipping right now). Often they have coupons for additional
discount.
Shipping seems to take and extra day or two (because it is not shipped right
away when you order)

I routinely burn these disks at 6x. I used to burn at 8x, but I was
experiencing too many coasters (more than 1 is too many :), but at 6x it
always burns fine.

I have used lots of Ritek in the past and only had a problem with one batch
of +RWs (on a great sale at Amazon) that I believe had a manufacturing
problem (you could see irregularities in the dye). On my drive, the Ritek +R
4x will burn at 12x with factory firmware (I have used +R in the past if
they were on sale, but do strickly -R format and +RW format now as I have an
older DVD player that will not recognize the +R disks). I now use a modified
firmware and can burn (at my discretion and risk) any disk at any speed, so
I don't know how the -R Ritek 4x are seen.

All that said, I have been quite happy with the Taiyo Yuden and they are one
of the most highly rated brands available. With the 4x disks, you can often
get a bargain if you shop around. I don't know how much longer the 4x disks
will be available, but I just stocked up on 400, so I should be in good
shape for the near future.
