The 23" Dell U2312hm is in that same price range, but features a superior
eIPS panel instead of the TN film in the Planar. It is, of course, quite a
bit smaller.

Another alternative--bizarre as it sounds--is the Yamakasi Catleap Q270 SE.
It's a 27" 2560x1440 display with an LG H-IPS panel for under $300. It has a
cheap bezel and a cheap stand, but is an outstanding panel at an incredible
price. My brother just picked up three of them. eBay will be your best
source for these.

Subject: Re: [H] PC Monitor suggestions sought?

I bought this on a special from Dell for $215. It's not super special, but
it works well for my needs (and for that price):

Planar PX2710MW 1920x1080. I've seen dell offer it several times at this
price. I might pick up another one the next time I see it. It is decent and
I like the price and size. I'm not a high-end graphics type, so this is
basic WP, surfing, etc. You can read review on Amazon and Newegg.
