looking at a multi function color. mfc-9970cdw.
duplex scanning AND printing seems like a neat feature. My HP office jet is 3 years old, diagnostics tell me the nozzles need replacing, cost of nozzles and cartridges => then the cost of a new ink jet. Also looking at a Samsung and a OKI per list recommendations but the duplex scanning is interesting. reports are the Brother color is not that good on photos though but I have a Epson Photo printer ( gives grief too but is mostly for labels on CD's and backup. ) Have friends with Brother's and they say they love them, hope it is not entrapment :-)

That said $499 for a laser compared to $220 for a new HP 8600 is fogging the issue a little. I think the new inkjets are pretty much the same cost per sheet as lasers these days IF the consumption estimates and cost of consumables is advertised correctly.

Thanks for the offer, printer goes on sale the 16th at Costco.com, I will probably froggy hop even though I just put new ink in the HP. <:-| Mostly my HP prints OK, just gives me grief on scans, pretty sure I can find a home for it if need be besides the *recycle* bin >:-}

I'll bet the GA trons are cheaper Thumbs.png

FORC5,
I am now on my 2D Brother b/w laser printer (5370DW - $180).
I just replaced its' 1st (w/printer) toner cart at 3015pgs.
The docs said to expect ~1500pgs initially. Fine! Maybe I got a 'full TN-620.' The printer logs correctly recorded the change at 3015pgs (for my 'anal' logs!)
This Brother b/w laser printer I am very happy with. It does Duplex-printing.
I'd rate it semi-quiet working.
It only does 100Mbit-Full Duplex max. Damn!

The 5370DW printer replaced my 1st Brother b/w printer 2070N.
It was replaced because it started throwing 'paper jams' when the Drum Unit
was ~95% used. The toner cart. was ~60% used at this point.
I dug thru this printer to find a 'suspect/dirty/ paper-path sensor.
Never could find one (IT!).
This 2070N sits in my living room with a new Drum Unit and a new toner cart.

Want me to send this old Brother 2070N to you?????
Perhaps your AZ trons are different than my GA trons?

Have always used HP Desk jets ( all in one ) Mine is starting to give me grief, does not seem like they last more then a couple of years anymore. Have been thinking of a color laser all in one but the HP reviews on theirs are not very comforting.

I did once have trouble with a brother but that was a long time ago. Costco has a online sale of a Brother MFC-9970cdw ( reviews are good ) can anybody have any advice on this one or any laser printer ? Costco has this for $500 with free shipping. seems like a good deal. Only thing I do not like is no media slots but add on cards are cheap plus I have one in the bone pile.

Thanks
