I don't know if this has changed in the last 2 years, but U-verse was distance limited to about 3000 feet from a switching station. Some area managers were even installing it at longer distances and letting support take the heat from customers. Apparently wire gauge had a lot to do with it.

Then again I went to cable (Cox) from AT&T because I got tired of having to call Customer Service 2 to 4 times a year to straighten my bill out. About 2 to 4 times a year it would suddenly jump 30 to 50 dollars (in their favor, of course) and then Customer Service would apologize and set it back to what it should be.

Of course, your mileage may vary. Most other people I know end up with 'teething pains' with U-verse, but after enough complaining, they finally get it right and it usually stays that way.

For my part, after enough experience with their technical and customer service personnel, if they offered me U-verse for free, I'd still have to think about it.

Did you verify that it is even available at your location? I live in an upscale
neighborhood, but can't get U-verse. It is amazing to me that AT&T has not
done more to make its U-verse just as available as Comcast.

Anyone care to share their opinion of AT&T Uverse? We'd like to kick
Comcast to the curb.
