Pardon me if I kvell. My new book, BEST JEWISH BOOKS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS: A JPS GUIDE has just been published by The Jewish Publication Society. It consists of about 1,000 recommended annotated titles for preschool through high school, organized in chapters by subjects. The subjects are:Jewish Rites and Customs; Holidays; The Bible; Folklore; History; Immigrant Life; The Holocaust and World War II; Israel and Zionism; Contemporary Issues; Famous Jews; and Judaism and other Religions. Each chapter begins with an introduction that gives historical and other background information. There are also lists of the Sydney Taylor Book Award winners, National Jewish Book Award winners, and titles by recommended reading levels.
