*sigh* I can see the Unicode vendor mapping in ROMAN.TXT maps 0xF0 to U+F8FF and I know that's in the Private Use Area, but recode(1)/iconv(3) could at least translate it to U+F8FF instead of U+E01E. Also Private Use Area, so that's not the reason. Even if I ssh in from a Mac, which will let U+F8FF display "correctly", mutt still shows a '?'. -Phil
