I don't think any of the 3 admins have responded yet to my question
yesterday asking for task information with dependencies. This seems like
a good time to make the policy on e-mail response time official.

I proposed months ago that every admin be required to respond within 24
hours to any e-mail clearly addressed to him or to admins in general,
asking for a response. This should include e-mail sent to hcoop-sysadmin.
The only exceptions would be if the admin has previously announced his
e-mail absence on hcoop-sysadmin for a particular time period that
includes the present; or for really serious emergencies.

So how about it? Can each admin please acknowledge on this list that he
will follow this policy from now on?

I feel like I'm being pushed by circumstances into acting as too much of a
hard-nosed manager, but I really have no idea what progress is occurring
and what our timeframe is for starting member migration. I would be more
OK with admins responding to messages saying that something has come up
and they can't deal with a request for a while. Silence from everyone is
a little much to take.

In general, I think we have some serious dysfunction in organizing
volunteers ATM, and I'm starting to seriously consider whether I should be
accepting the negative effect on my life that comes from having to manage
system administration tasks. When I asked for others to take over all
sysadmin tasks, I meant for _management_ of sysadmin tasks to be included,
too, not just technical work. Maybe I wasn't clear about it, but I don't
think I'll be able to force myself to keep doing what I'm doing here for
much longer. I enjoy creating custom software like domtool, but that's as
far as I want to commit.
