Sammi Chen commented on HDDS-699:
---------------------------------

Hi [~szetszwo], thanks for the comments. I think it's a trade off between
performance and accurancy. Using a single RW-lock at network topology level has
better accurancy while lower performance. The question is whether accurancy can
be sacrified in some cases without big impact to other modules.

In 02.patch, I removed the codes that use NetworkToplogy in a new SCM container
placement policy to keep this patch logically single. The new SCM container
placement policy to utilize network topology will be implemented in HDDS-700.

I will update a new patch with the single RW-lock tomorrow.

> Traditionally this has been implemented in Hadoop via script or customizable
> java class. One thing we want to add here is the flexible multi-level support
> instead of fixed levels like DC/Rack/NG/Node.
