What I meant by grouping by category is actually sorting the list so that ideas with the same category appear next to each other.
Well, what I meant by grouping by category is exactly what Vojta did :-) Thanks!
There is one problem with breaking the list into subgroups of thematically related ideas. For example #519 can be both in the 'Networking-related' group and and in the 'Driver-support' group.
So why not have a single ticket in multiple groups?
I don't like the plain list - the table version looks much better.
I think the plain list for each category is OK. The table version does not show much more information. Plus, I believe that the idea is to still keep the table version of all GSoC tickets as a summary at the end.
I also don't think that the list needs to be too verbose or explanatory. There is plenty of text above the list and if the ideas list itself is self-explanatory, so much the better.
I agree. Our idea page has generally grown too verbose. I'll try to make the wording just a little bit more compact to save a few lines on the screen.
We know that in the previous two years, this format proved itself.
But remember that in the previous two years the list of GSoC tickets was much shorter than it is now. Therefore some additional structure cannot hurt here.
