thanks for the information. I was wondering about this because I got the 
behavior I described after patching the source to use xorriso instead of 
mkisofs. Later I verified in a virtual machine with Fedora that the effect 
is the same when you use mkisofs/genisoimage. So now I know this is at least
not my fault.

I am currently working on updating the prebuilt Grub we are shipping with 
HelenOS source and I have ran into some interesting issues.. will have more 
on the meeting.

I have tested the EFI GRUB only once, a few years ago on an Intel board 
with UEFI which I don't have an easy access to right now. It worked on 
that board, but claiming that "it is supposed to work 100%" would be an 
overstatement.

I'll try to debug the issue on the QEMU setup you are describing, as 
time permits.
