The Half-Life engine version of this code is very similar to the original Quake engine version (which is available from ftp.idsoftware.com). Here's the function from the Quake source (from the pr_cmds.c file)... void PF_precache_model (void) { char *s; int i; if (sv.state != ss_loading) PR_RunError ("PF_Precache_*: Precache can only be done in spawn functions"); s = G_STRING(OFS_PARM0); G_INT(OFS_RETURN) = G_INT(OFS_PARM0); PR_CheckEmptyString (s); for (i=0 ; i<MAX_MODELS ; i++) { if (!sv.model_precache[i]) { sv.model_precache[i] = s; return; } if (!strcmp(sv.model_precache[i], s)) return; } PR_RunError ("PF_precache_model: overflow"); } ...it looks like the engine is going through the list of all the models that can be precached at one time and trying to find the precached version of this model. When it can't find it, you get that nastygram. Perhaps you are trying to load too many models at one time. Try reducing the number of models in your MOD.
