The game has sold many copies which is a fairly good indication that people like what Valve has done. As far as lack of SDK documentation goes, you get what you pay for. How much did the SDK code again? I forget. And don't tell me that you "paid" for the SDK by buying the game, unless you bought the game, installed it and then never played the game.
