'lo, Like I promised, I downloaded and tested this "non-steam" and successfully made it connect to a steam based server -without a cd key - console output below.
This definitely has to be how our little hackers are getting around. This program combined with a VAC disabler and multihook is all they need to become the biggest pains in the arse around. VALVe definitely need to get onto this and stop it from being a viable way to play Counter-Strike online. Not with some hacky fix, but with a properly thought out solution. The FIRST step is to recognise the threat. We now have enough evidence to do that. Next move belongs to VALVe. client admin mod password has been set ] name Carrot NET Ports: server 27015, client 27005 Server IP address 192.168.0.1:27015 Connecting to 192.38.163.22:27033... See, I mentioned about shutting servers a while back to send a message and although the subject may have been different the end result is the same. I also remember what quite a few had to say/flame. I even heard some "mighty" gsp's (lol) tell me where I should go with my little DSL server. But, now, it is suddenly Ok I guess. My, what a funny bunch we have here.
