I wouldnt know why they would not support it.
Its running on amxmodx, a plugin reader which keeps cs going!
Without these kind of things CS would never lived such a long live. (Take a
look at CSS, its "nothing" without a decent mod community.)

255 is database length for the field "varchar". I don't think it'd be too
hard to change the field type.
