Agreed about the bleeding edge... but, just make a backup copy of your server directories prior to the upgrade and restore them if the upgrade goes south. Make sure you back up the entire directory tree. btw... I should follow my own advise... I always do backup first but on this last upgrade I skipped the backup to save time. My server users paid the price... I won't do that again.
