Right, so to make sure what I was posting was correct, I went and did
some tests on my SRCDS (yes, that's SOURCE DEE ESS) to confirm that
fps_max could be adjusted on the fly, like many of us had stated.

My fps_max is set to 600, and after using the kernel timer app to speed
up the timer frequency, I get about 512fps according to the console. I
set my fps_max via the server.cfg, not the command line.

When setting my fps_max to 100 IN THE CONSOLE WHILE THE SERVER IS LIVE,
the fps drops to about ~90 fps.

Oh wait, I forgot Kyle is the SRCDS setup god, and knows all about how
to run SRCDS... I guess my SRCDS is coded incorrectly, and shouldn't
accept changes to fps_max while its running.

Also, I checked my tickrate to confirm that I was seeing the right
values. The following were issued on the command line, and the results
next to them:
-tickrate 100 = 101/101 (in/out)
-tickrate 66 = 67/67 (in/out)

When not issuing a -tickrate command, my in/out were 33/33.

So anyway, Kyle, can you please not insult me as it is quite childish,
especially when you have no idea what you are talking about.

p.s. All tests done on SRCDS, not HLDS.

Cheers,
Adam.

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] No one here is or has
ever mentioned the piece of crap addon manimod.

The only disscussion up to this point was the command tickrate and or
ticrate.
And your another fucking loser for thinking its tickrate. Just go stick
a gun in your mouth ok.

And for SRCDS its neither or those, its FPS_max. and that command
can
only be utilized thru the CMD line. Not in the server config. I
have
tested this many times in many ways with both win 2000 and fedora.
You
people are just patheticly lame to talk about crap you have not tested.

And knowing the server admin community and the type of people that play
the games we all run, its totally typical that people would just say
something without first even testing it.
Just jump on the lame stupid dumbass bandwagon willya.

Me runs off pulling my hair out.

LOL @ Kyle..
I got to ask, what YOU have been smoking.. ;)

For SRCDS (Source Dedicated Server) goes:
The command fps_max can NOT ONLY be used in the CMD-line (as +fps_max
xxx), but also in .cfg's or directly in the console..
Syntax here would be: "fps_max 300" (default setting) or "fps_max 600"
for a higher "up-to-date" info used when calculating objects on the
"tick".

"-tickrate xx" are a cmd-line ONLY... And control the amount of "times
per seconds" the server calculates objects positions.
Syntax should be: "-tickrate 33" (default) or "-tickrate 66" or
"-tickrate 100" (max setting).
Be aware that the higher setting, the higher CPU-load.

So.. Kyle..
If this VAR isn't set, the server will just run on default 33..
But as the VAR isn't a "command" you will not be able to query the
setting from the console.
If you, however, is using Mani-Admin plugin, you can query the setting
by issuing the command: mani_tickrate.
This will return the current tickrate for the server...

Regards
Sgt.Rock

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] No no no. There is no
tickrate, ticrate or any other type of tick cvar for SRCDS. Never has
been never will be, EVER. In the CMD line or server.cfg.
SRCDS use the command "FPS_max" period. And yes it can only be
utilized
in the CMD line.

Unlike HLDS which the command is sys_ticrate and can be utilized in
either the CMD line or the server.cfg

There has never been any command "tickrate" ever.

What the hell are you people smoking crack.
