There seems to be this trend in PC gaming where developers want to
control the game experience in online play more and more. The most
extreme case would be DICE and the ranked servers for BF2 and 2142.
More and more the options we as admins have to host a game the way we
want to play it are being taken away. In my opinion, this has stemmed
from the consoles where developers and publishers have complete control
over the gaming experience. That model will never work in the PC gaming
world. I am really frustrated with how out of touch the devs and
publishers have become. From this problem with the custom tabs in TF2
to the complete and utter BS with KAOS and Frontlines to the crappy
console ports we get for a lot of games anymore I just have to shake my
head and wonder what the hell happened to PC gaming.
