Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right way to post something on the mailing list, but here goes. Failing that, I've sent an email to Fletcher prior to this attempt.
I've heard rumors that Valve intend to highly restrict functionality on the MOTD, due to issues of random popups or loss of game controls. I propose a solution that would please both plugin authors who have things like stat plugins, or donate pages, and gamers alike. The proposition: Instead of completely restricting the MOTD's functionality for plugin authors, you could restrict the manacing JavaScript functions (window.open, alert and confirm) which cause the problem. I hope you (or those concerned) bear this into consideration, if the rumors are true. Even if they aren't, it might be wise to restrict the above three JavaScript functions so that they simply do nothing (or nothing more than 'return true;' for example).
