As far as I know you'd have to be VERY lucky to do this with WON.

Yes I do know what it is like for this to happen - I bought Q3 the
first day it was on the shelf in NZ - invalid CD key (I presume it was
generated) - I never got to play Q3 online (I didn't know what to do
about the situation back then).

(It took me some time to get the courage up to buy CS due to my experiance
with Q3).

Plastic wrappered aren't they?  I can't remember - been a while since
I bought my copy.
