Maybe you should post to the Linux Kernel people. Maybe they can help. I guess Valve should be the one's posting to the Kernel group since they have the source to the game and could answers questions better. Anyway, I hope you are correct about the Kernel version being the problem. If you are correct Valve should be able to make progress correcting the problem.
