-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Okay, I'm getting more and more fed up with not only the fouled up installs (files missing, some installing incorrectly), but the constant connection resets while attempting to install TF2. I've been as diplomatic as possible, but now, the steam update tool is installing TF2 into a different install path on and off?????
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~/setup $ ./update Checking bootstrapper version ... Updating Installation No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at . Checking/Installing 'Team Fortress 2 Content' version 5 0.00% .\tf\bin\server.dll Okay, as you can see, that's the beginning of the install. Notice all of the no record found at .'s? This is a blank folder installing a new install of tf2, running the command "./steam -command update -game "tf" -dir ." which should install our game. However, sometimes I get what you see above, other times I get half "No record at ." and half "No record found at orangebox". Example: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/setup$ ./update Checking bootstrapper version ... Updating Installation No installation record found at ./orangebox No installation record found at ./orangebox No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at . No installation record found at ./orangebox Checking/Installing 'Team Fortress 2 Content' version 5 0.00% ./orangebox\tf\bin\server.dll You cannot be serious in that I am getting different paths to install the files when trying to install tf2 multiple times. If it's not one thing, it's another. Yes I know it's a beta, so if you're going to retort that this is a beta, don't. This is a public beta, and if it wasn't ready for prime-time beta testing, it shouldn't have been released. I've just had it up to here with Linux being the bastard child of the dedicated servers with VALVe, and the fact that I purchased a server specifically to host this game, and I *can't even install the damn files to do so*, I've about reached my limit. I've hosted Source for coming up on three years, and I've dealt with some wacky stuff over the years (like updates completely breaking Linux, no plugins involved), but this takes the cake. Can you throw the Linux admins a bone, VALVe? Honestly. -- _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds_linux
