Unfortunately about a year before CS:GO came out they moved CS:S away from
the rest of the OrangeBox games (created a new engine fork). Since then we
lost replay which was "coming soon", and they've done a horrible job
keeping it lined up. So much so that plugin authors can no longer use the
same SDK due to major breaking changes between the different branches. As
well to this, exploits that were patched in the main branch never made it
to CS:S except in the February engine sync (was out of sync for about 5
months).

It appears that they're looking to do this now with every game, which would
mean that TF2 can update independently of other games. However, should an
engine change occur, the others (HL2:DM/DoD:S/etc) would be out of sync,
which only makes the headache worse for end users. MM:S is on 15% of all
reporting servers out there (which includes the ones run by Valve), it's a
pretty big user base, and devastating change.

Thanks,
Kyle.
