headphones as a mic - yes it can be done
ok... an update:
started reinstall of SKYPE 1.0 (only had beta before)- check
ran out of disk space - check
freed up disk space to reinstall SKYPE - it wanted 13.5MB, i only had 6 - check
completed reinstall of SKYPE 1.0 - check
tried to remember login id - check
tried to remember password - check
asked SKYPE to mail me new passowrd - check
remembered original ID and password - check
got cat out from within the innards of the sofa - um, not exactly
opened bottle of Shiraz that Monica gave me for Christmas - check
heated leftover Chinese pu pu platter - check
logged in to SKYPE - check
added back in the contacts i could remember from before - check
awaiting their authorization - check
