no icon shows up joyce.
not on my computer anyway.
i don't believe it can as he posted it ...
as pics cannot be remotely loaded ...
they have to first be uploaded to Wikicities.
is this not so?
~~~
~~~
yes. for the reason stated above.
is this not so?
~~~
only because it doesn't appear to me that there
was anything there other than the symbol that
wiki uses for an external link. just a little
blue box with a number in it.
is this not so?
if this is not the case ...
and there is somehow an icon there ...
as gathered from a remote link ...
i would be surprised ... pleasantly so btw ...
and intrigued as to how that is done as i
am not aware of how it could be.
i must say i was suprised that lob wouldn't have
caught it if it didn't work as he expected but ...
we all make mistypes and only realize it later.
can you explain how this link works?
[http://www.spreadfirefox.com/
http://sfx-images.mozilla.org/affiliates/Buttons/125x50/takebacktheweb_125x50.png]
there is no icon visible on the wiki page [for me anyway]
and the link only takes me to http://www.spreadfirefox.com/
that's why i don't understand what he was trying to do.
now if the icon was uploaded to wiki ...
then we might be able to do:
[http://www.spreadfirefox.com/ | [[Image:takebacktheweb.png]]|]
or some such thing.
but i don't see how it could work as posted.
afaik, wikicities doesn't not allow the displaying of
pics, including icons, from remote sites.
they have to be uploaded 1st.
please explain how lob could have gotten around this?
it would be great if this were so ...
so i want to know how it can be done.
i just don't see how.
i wonder why this icon would show up for you ...
and not be seen by me. i am using firefox btw.
anyway ...
i understand now why you think i sabotaged your efforts.
do you understand how i came to the same conclusion about
you were sabotaging mine?
i can certianly see then why each of us could conclude that
the other is a control freak [which may indeed be true] ;)
when in fact each of us was trying to make things clear.
only the data available for each of us is apparently different.
that makes it difficult to communicate about what we see, eh?
can we see this for what it is?
a misunderstanding. a miscommunication.
regardless of whether the icon shows up or not ...
and again, i do not see how ..
i misinterpreted what your motives were ...
and you mine.
can we realize that?
and then get back to the work at hand without interfering
with one another?
i'm game.
but i sure would be interested in seeing how that icon works.
please consider this:
even if you can see it ...
my browser does not.
and certainly then there will be other people who will also
only see the little blue wiki box indicating an external link.
this is barely noticable on my browser ...
and certainly easy to miss altogether.
[someone here please go to
http://peace.wikicities.com/index.php/Empowerments
scroll down to the bottom of the page ..
and let us know what you see, if anything.
let's do some indepentant scouting.
and please let us know what browser you are using.
thanks]
so what can we do to ensure we do not leave those folks out?
there is a way i think, to put in alternative text.
then ... if the pic isn't loaded, the alt text tells what
should have been there.
that way everyone would have some clue as to what it was.
let's explore then how this actually works ...
and see if we can get it to work for all.
would that be acceptable?
thanks
