One possible fingering for a sustained G is B23+stopping valve, if
     you
tune it up the right way. Or, depending on the key, pull the B3
     slide
so that B13 is right on.

I second Bob's motion for (Bb horn) 23 + stop valve for g. This will
give you all the open f horn notes. This was one of Alan Civil's
favorite Bb horn fingerings on his single Alex Bb horn with stop/A
valve. I used to have a wonderful horn with a low f extension for my
pinky finger. 6 valves for 5 fingers, but i got used to it. It also had
a valve-switchable A/Stop valve so you didn't have to change slides for
that feature. One should always look for alternate fingerings when the
   situation calls for it.

I use my Paxman Bb/f mostly above G on the top of the staff, with the
fingerings from an octave below on a regular F horn. That should give
you some clues for the highest notes above C. A descant can come in
handy in a variety of ways. And wait till you hear the pedal tones
played on high F horn! very "fundamental."

   Enjoy,
   Wendell
