I wonder if a quick email to the Philadelphia Symphony would yield any info on how to contact Mason Jones family/friends. Sometimes these kinds of direct attempts can actually work. Not too long ago I was puzzled about the trumpet parts on the Chicago Symphony recording of 'La Mer', around rehearsal 70 that are missing from most recordings. So on a whim I dashed off an email to the CSO using an email address at their website. Within 5 minutes I got an email back from the CSO librarian, that started 'I just happen to have the 2nd trumpet player standing next to me, and he says... blah blah blah.'
