And the more important difference between the two quakes in Christchurch was 
the location of the epicenter,
which was first about 15 - 25 kms outside town, but very near to town this time 
a month ago. 

When I was in Christchurch 2003 we stayed at the grey building (Heritage Hotel) 
you could see
next to the damaged tower of the cathedrale there. I was there playing Schumann 
op.86.

My friends live there. The historic part with the nice eateries, all gone.
