There are several ways:

single bb-horns with just a stop valve as 4rth valve could get them an 
alternative slide, a bit longer than 1st slide & use this stop valve + 3rd 
valve in combination.

single bb-horns are equipped with a thumb-valve of a FOURTH, switching the horn 
to F-tonality, so to use it for g & g1 as open notes.

single bb-horns without any additional valve require the strict use of the 
right hand either to lower pitch when using 1+3 or using the right hand more 
than usual opening to match fingering the g1 with 1.
