Why so much wind about that passage of afterbeats. There is nothing to 
practice. 
As soon as you have a conductor in front, the tempo is kept (more or less) by 
the conductor.
By the progress of that number, he is getting tired & the tempo gets slower.

NEVER EVER practice such afterbeats. This is nonsense. If you need to breath, 
never mind,
breath at any place. Nobody will notice it, if you leave out one or two of the 
rapid eights,
nobody knows that.

If the conductor might ask the orchestra "faster, faster", stand up & tell him, 
"talking be easy, playing is a different task !"

Yes, this number is quite fast, but not extreme. But practicing without a 
melody is
terribly wasted time.

I remember low horns in my former section, practicing such afterbeats in "Il 
Trovatore", 
just because in A-basso or such. But they did not realize, that the harmonies 
were extremely 
simple, no accidentals. But on the Bb-horn every #-tonality is problematic.
