Print-clone the best horn (?) o the best violin (Stradivarius), but also print-clone the most famous players (whoever you might think of) and implement the best characteristics of yourself (??), but still remain ........... incompetent, unequal, with the same problems as before, because competence, talent, strength, knowledge cannot be cloned, ....... fortunately (socialism tried that !! and failed !).
In your particular case of a "travel-horn" you first have to find the most suitable master piece. Dear Valerie, you must have a lot of free time, to find all this stuff. Keeping the chops in shape ? Well, let us talk about the task. The bigger problem is, keeping the lips used to the mouthpiece (rim, pressure, etc.), which can be solved just doing some exercises with the mouthpiece alone, but just some light exercises, perhaps several minutes each at different times of the day. Avoid expecting any great sound. Do never force things. Next problem to solve: endurance. This should never be any problem. Well, admitted: The endurance is less after two weeks absence from real playing. But that´s not a problem at all, as this endurance will be back after the first rehearsal, where you play somewhat cautiously to avoid burning your lips. Or plan an extra day to bring endurance back. This might work fine for most of the professionals, but might be problematic for those who never had proper training /lessons by a professional teacher. Remember also: if you had flaws in your playing before the break/travel/etc., these flaws will be still there. BTW: anyone heard about the 7,0 quake near Japan/Honshu cost between Sendai & Fukushima some six hours ago ? We here in Munich had a thunderstorm at around 09:00 PM with normal size hail stones & much rain, lasting 25 minutes, but it returned at 10:00 P.M. with a power, I have never seen in my life. The lightnings flashing like New Years Eve fireworks for full 45 minutes. The thunders were strong but as there were so many it was more a "Goetterdaemmerung"-like scenario with permanent loud rumpling & grumbling for 45 minutes - and it rains the past 8 hours. ##################################################### Am 10.07.2011 um 02:44 schrieb valerie wells: > Remember this discussion from a few weeks ago?
