A couple other thoughts on top of Leigh's.... Is it really necessary to attend USC to "train" for studio playing? My feeling is that the right connections and teachers are more important than the school. When I was studying, to get in that door pretty much meant studying with Vince DeRosa, James Decker, Fred Fox. If you had the talent and drive, these people could open doors. I'm from the previous generation (relative to LaNetra) and perhaps it isn't this way anymore, but unless you've throughly checked it out don't assume that USC is the only way to the studios. Of course, the Hollywood studio players live in or close to L.A. so the cost of living thing is still a consideration. But if USC is not a necessity, your costs (or your parents') will be much lower, as USC is very expensive.

My daughter lives in Studio City and has found a nice, safe place to live for quite-a-bit less than the same sort of place would have cost in Portsmouth, NH (where I used to live)! Go, girl go, LA's not _that_ bad:-) Leigh On Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at 08:56 AM, Lanetra Carther wrote: > .......I personally would love to become a studio player someday, but > you have to go to USC for that kind of training, and there is NO WAY > I'm going to live in LA due to their rediculous living expenses.
