I love single horns. Last week the first player and I did the whole concert on single F horns. It was Beethoven Fidelio Overture, Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven Symphony 6. I thought it sounded much better than if we had played our doubles. I'm continuing with my single this week: Bartok Concerto for Orchestra and Honegger Pacific 231.
We are still working with old phone lines and the old way of internet...
As an aside, last week I saw a lineman working a block from home and asked if he could check my phone, since there was a lot of static. He was here in an hour, and spent an hour looking at things, taking out some old cables, and putting in an order for all new cables from the telephone pole, including interior wiring, which was done two days later. What nice service. The two cable guys asked about my horns, so I gave them an appreciated demonstration.
