I know I need to warmup to play well, but what about the instrument? Does having it played for a few minutes make a difference?
I ask because, for whatever reason, my practice over the last couple of days has taken the form of doing something through on one horn, putting it down, playing the same piece through on another horn, and so on, using 3 or all 4 of the horns I own: a double, two single F's, and a single Bb. Thus, all the horns except the first one are cold when I start playing on them. I'm using the same mouthpiece throughout.
