I also hope that you all will be now able to understand what i meant as 'internationalization'. The scripts on which the exporting interface is based are very specific to the italian map and boundaries, using regions (regioni) and municipalities (comuni) names etc. The italian coder (Fabrizio) sent me a short how to to better understand the comments and how the code works, please ask to me for that if you want to use that code in your local context. If this community is interested on an internationalization of this tool then you'll find below my ideas. We could choose the same layout on a global map and nation based data extraction files, or we could choose to replicate the same interface on the ebola concerned African nations (in this case we should understand if it's worth to keep the regional an municipality's buondaries to sort the data). Improvements: We spoke a bit about the improvements we could bring to the interface and extraction tool on irc and with the italian developers also. A list of improvements may be this: _select by polygons _osmand format exports _garmin gps exports I may be able to make that improvements to the code but I'd prefer my time and efforts to be inserted in a program like the one to which i applied, the outreach program for womens http://gnome.org/opw/ I may modify my application in order to improve this data exporting interface if you all and the mentor (drazen odobrazic) for the exporting data field's ideas tell me you're still interested in this kind of project. So the idea to list available extraction tools (including available documentations and source code) and publish it in one page so: 1. Non-technical person can extract OSM data based on their needs with available tools 2. The tech people can look at the available list so they can figure out the right tools (and hopefully ) and also figuring out workflow based on their needs (and hopefully can share it to us). I'm not too techie enough if I figure out by myself (I don't know about other people in Training WG) but at least by having this list, we hope it can help many people.
