Greetings.

I have a HP LaserJet 3050 multifunction printer and wish to use it with the
HPLIP drivers bundled with Ubuntu (Edgy, i386). The printer is properly
detected by CUPS and I have set it up using the hp:// URI. When print a test
page on the CUPS Administration site, the following occurs:

* The CUPS status states: "printmode mismatch with pen, tray, etc."
* The "Ready" light on the printer blinks
* The LCD readout says "Printing document"

The printer remains at this state for what seems like a full minute, and then
it finally prints out a proper test page at 300x300 dpi. The printer has
always exhibited this behavior with HPLIP: it did the same with the Ubuntu
bundled HPLIP on Dapper, and I even tried the official HPLIP distribution from
SourceForge.

In the meantime, I am using the PostScript driver with a PPD supplied by
linuxprinting.org which works reasonably well; however, it lacks the fully
functionality of HPLIP which is why I would like to get HPLIP to work.

On another note (albiet an equally critical note), the scanning through HPLIP
is very unreliable and even frequently causes the printer to reset/"reboot".
This deserves its own post, but I thought I would mention it here because it
only happens with HPLIP.

Any ideas on how I can get this printer to print with acceptable performance?
This is most assuredly not an interface bottleneck as I am using a proper USB
2.0 cable and my logs confirm that the device is operating as "hi-speed USB".

Thanks!
