I could not get the installation to work (sh hplip-1.7.1.run), it just hung forever or until I logged out whilst attempting the following:
'su -c "apt-get install --force-yes --yes libjpeg62-dev python-dev libcupsys2-dev libusb-dev lsb libsnmp5-dev python-reportlab sane"' Finally I used aptitude to install these dependencies myself and then ran: sh hplip-1.7.1.run and get the following: Creating directory hplip-1.7.1 Verifying archive integrity... Done. I feel like I am getting close but still no banana! I have an excellent internet connection although I think aptitude is setup to only use CD currently after my installation (not sure, just a guess.) When it says 'Please restart CUPS and try again.' I will look on the internet at how to restart CUPS but by start again does it mean go through the whole 'sh hplip-1.7.1.run' process again? thanks in advance. Paddi Stowe p.s.
