/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp

and post the output.

Also run

lsmod | grep par

and post that as well.

try now a couple of days to make above device get to work with hplip.
tried a
several computers, several cables, several linux versions, several

versions of phlp, installed fron sources, tried distribution specific
packages.
always the same, the device is not detected from "hp-setup". parport seems
to
work fine. dmesg has detectet a device on parport0. Operating system, Open
Suse
Linux 10.2 on a i586 machine.

parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3

parport0: Printer, HEWLETT-PACKARD OFFICEJET PRO 1150C

Other device on USB port has been detected.

Any ideas??
