Do you know which parport settings in the BIOS are usually required
to get support for the software ECP mode?

Is "ECP" in the BIOS required for software ECP or
does "ECP" in the BIOS usually mean "hardware ECP"?

Is it possible that software ECP mode works even if in the BIOS
"EPP", "Bi-directional", "Normal", "SPP", "Output-Only" is set?

According to my limited experience "ECP" or "EPP+ECP" in the BIOS
does often automatically enable DMA and/or IRQ (i.e. often one cannot
select only "ECP" in the BIOS but without DMA and/or IRQ).
