Hello, i understand what you wrote, tried different bios settings and different machines (SUN Ultra Sparc 60, Dell Latitude 640, ASROC Based X86_64 self made machine, Fujitsu Siemens T-Bird). There was no machine with none of a bios setting where i could scan. maybe i havbe got different error messages. did not save them. will try to scan (install) hplip again. did you test it on a sun sparc using solaris 10, too? should it work? i am not shure how to set up parport mode on the sun machine. this machine does not have a "standard" bios like ix86 based machines. what solutions are possible?
