I am trying to figure out how to make use of the scanning features of a
network attached HP Laserjet 4100MFP. The supported devices page seems to
indicate that the 4100MFP is not network capable. However I haven't had any
problem printing to it via network connection so far. Is it just the
scanning functionality that doesn't work over the network?

Attached is the output from hp-check. The testhp4100 printer is configured
with the hplip driver, and it seems to print properly. However when I run
xsane it gives me the error message:

Failed to open device `hpaio:/net/HP_Laserjet_4100_MFP?ip=192.168.1.152':
Error during device I/O.

My question on the SANE list elicited a recommendation that post my error
here.

error: Not found!
error: Printer is not HPLIP installed. Printers must use the hp: or
hpfax: CUPS backend to function in HPLIP. (You can still print to this printer
using another backend and HPIJS.)
