This relates to the driver ignoring blank lines. To fix this, edit the
file
hplip-xxx/prnt/hpijs/djgenericvip.h
Add the line
virtual DATA_FORMAT GetDataFormat() { return RASTER_STRIP; }
around lin 55
save the file
make and make install

What distro are you running?
Everyone seems to look okay. It seems that perhaps the dynamic links
did not get created correctly.
Try running; /usr/share/hplip/setup.py to configure the printer.
