No, I do not use compression_level attribute in my config file; it has its
default value, I suppose.
Here is a detail comparison of 3.1.5 database with 3.2.0b3; would you
please make comments under each comparison why they differ between the two
versions, and if the difference is what you would expect:
3.1.5: total 77961
3.2.0: total 55520
Total 3.2.0 database is smaller than 3.1.5 database by 28%
3.1.5: -rw-r--r-- 1 jjah www 27593728 Mar 4 02:30 db.docdb
3.2.0: -rw-r--r-- 1 jjah www 1409024 Mar 4 01:40 db.docdb
3.2.0 db.docdb is smaller than 3.1.5 db.docdb by 95%

I have only made anecdotal comparisons to make a meaningful report; they
indicate 3.2.0b3 to be between 25% and 30% slower than 3.1.5. The search
time has been so short, (~3 seconds versus ~5 seconds) that it was too
close to study the difference.
