Sorry, I was premature oin believing that it was now working properly, just
to recap
I have now added

valid_punctuation: -'
allow_numbers: true
extra_word_characters: .

and re built the index

and although it now accepts and uses a search string such as 161.73 it still
does not find the numbers, even just searching for 161

I have not set minimum_word_length to 1 as there is no requirement to search
for 1 digit numbers, threee digit numbers are the smallest to be searched
for so shouldnt this work
without this parameter being set?

I hope this is not an insulting question, but you _have_ re-indexed the
data with the new config?

And, you have set minimum_word_length to 1 (default is 3)?
