The - argument will be integrated into the 3.2.x tree. I haven't
personally had a chance to do it, but if someone else doesn't, I'll do it
myself.

I think the message with a temporary file was meant as a workaround for
the 3.1.x code. I feel it's a hack and the - argument is more elegant.
