Actually, there's a different problem IMHO. I should have put this
udner "Issues" on the STATUS file, but forgot. Package builders want to
use the original libraries as necessary. But the db library now contains a
pile of modifications. So the package *has* to use this version, or it
doesn't get database compression.
Even worse, it compiles and links against this version and a package
maintainer might accidently omit it (after all, it's the same library,
right?) and then it's run against a *very* different library.
I see this as a pretty important issue that really needs to be resolved.
(Maybe it even falls under "showstoppers.")
