the default config limits you to 100 redirects in total, circular or not. i 
left it at this and the trace shows 
that it does indeed give up after 100 - so no "infinite loop" that was stopping 
the connection being 
released.

and my releaseConnections() ARE IN A FINALLY BLOCK, just in case that comes up 
again.
