I am aware of the fact taht this is a rare case where a http-proxy is used to
execute commands on an FTP server. There is a thread about this on the user-list
where it is established that this is corretc use of http.

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/jakarta-httpclient-user/200512.mbox/browser
(ftp via http, 21 dec 2005).

Clients like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and even Total Commander support
this mechanism of accessing an FTP site via a HTTP proxy. The well-known proxy
Squid also supports this type of FTP proxying, see
http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/FAQ/FAQ-5.html#ss5.9 .

It would be nice to see this sort of functionality in HttpClient.
