We ought not try to grow into another umbrella project like Jakarta but with a different scope. If we ever find ourselves having enough people willing to start building applications on top of HttpComponents we should encourage them to form separate TLPs. Right now we have about enough collective capacity to build and maintain HttpCore and HttpClient and potentially absorb client-side Slide. Honestly, I do not expect that to change any time soon.
