If by "deep," you refer to what might be called "Landscape Photography," you may well be able to simply IGNORE the "no parallax point." If the nearest objects are miles/kilometers (or even thousands of feet/hundreds of meters) away from the camera you probably will not be able to resolve ANY errors due to parallax no matter WHERE you reasonably place the pivot point.

I most the appreciate the feedback so far.

I am planning to post the details of my pano head when design and construction have been completed.

I've been having some good ideas; for example controlling the swinging arm with a quick release mechanism and mounting a camera quick release plate on the swinging arm (credit to others there).

I think there is a basic set of metrics that should suit the majority of cases and users, that's the purpose of this query.

I think that I have been able to prepare a very useful design brief based on many years of experience.

It is not intended to be VR head, but to assist deep multirow panos at high resolution.

All input and enquiries are gratefully received, and correspondence is welcome via w...@w3a2z.net
I don't think this list should be overburdened, I'm a bit off subject.

My panos, of course, can be seen at http://www.panavista.eu/
