Dee- on reflection I think you have a point after seeing your expansion on your thinking behind the nano particles interacting. It's well known that dry desert sands can 'sing' though I'm not sure of the natural freq of this. My major reservation is that the natural resonant freq of extemely small particles would be very high - but the macro behaviour could, of course, be substantially lower.
